Edric Wong
Consultant
Edric is a Sustainable Building Engineer at IEN Consultants, where he specializes in energy simulations and environmentally sustainable design (ESD) optimizations. With a mechanical engineering background, he’s passionate about improving building performance through data-driven strategies, focusing on energy efficiency, indoor environmental quality, occupant comfort, and overall sustainability.
His skill set includes green building certifications, energy modelling, daylighting analysis, and thermal comfort simulations, leveraging tools such as IESVE to support high-performance building design.
Earlier in his career, Edric worked at Optergy Malaysia and EMD Consult, where he gained hands-on experience in building automation, energy management systems (BMS), and mechanical engineering design. At Optergy, he delved into IoT-driven efficiency solutions and smart building technologies, while at EMD, he worked on building mechanical design across all mechanical services. This blend of digital building optimization and mechanical engineering has given him a solid technical foundation for tackling sustainable building challenges.
Before joining IEN, he was involved in a diverse range of sustainability-focused projects at Green Quarter, working on both new and existing buildings across sectors like residential, commercial, retail, hotels, hospitals, industrial, and data centres. His work included building energy simulations, green building certifications, and performance optimization, contributing to projects under benchmarking schemes such as GBI, GreenRE, and LEED.
Now at IEN Consultants, Edric continues to hone his expertise in energy simulations and ESD optimizations, collaborating with project teams to create high-performance, low-energy buildings. With a multidisciplinary background that spans mechanical design, sustainability consulting, and smart building technologies, he brings a holistic approach to optimizing buildings that are not only energy efficient but also sustainable for the long term.
